Privacy Policy
Last updated: 27 June 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how AB Engineering Solutions (“we”, “us”), the operator of the Batch Tutor application (the “App”), collects, uses and protects information when you use the App and this website. Batch Tutor is an offline-first app: the institute data you create stays on your device, and only leaves it when you choose to back it up to your own Google Drive.
Summary
- Your institute data (students, fees, attendance, marks, staff, inventory and so on) is stored locally on your device. We do not upload it to our servers.
- If you turn on backup, a copy is stored in a private app folder in your own Google Drive. We can only see backups created by Batch Tutor — never the rest of your Drive.
- We use Google Sign-In for your account and collect limited, pseudonymous usage analytics to improve the App. On this website, analytics run only if you accept our cookie banner.
- You can delete your account and all associated data at any time.
- We do not sell your personal information.
Who we are
The App and this website are operated by AB Engineering Solutions, a GST-registered sole proprietorship in India (proprietor: Divya Singh). Batch Tutor is our product name. For any privacy questions, contact us at [email protected].
Information we collect
Account information. When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, basic Google profile information and a Google account identifier. This is used to create and secure your account and to link the backups you create. Authentication is handled using Google Firebase Authentication.
Your institute data. Information you enter into the App — such as students and guardians, contact details, fees and payments, attendance, marks, staff, inventory, documents and notes — is stored locally on your device. We do not have access to this data unless you send it to us (for example, when you share it for support).
Backups. If you use backup, the App stores a copy of your data in a private “app data” folder inside your own Google Drive (which Google stores under your account). These backups live in your Google account; deleting the App does not delete them automatically.
Usage and diagnostic data (App). We use PostHog to collect limited analytics about how the App is used — for example, screens visited, features used, app version, device type and operating system, and crash or error information. This helps us fix problems and improve the App. We do not enable automatic capture of your on-screen content, and we do not record your screen or sessions. Events are linked to a non-personal identifier, not to your email address.
Usage data (website). On this website, if you accept analytics in our cookie banner, our analytics providers — which may include PostHog, Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity — collect pseudonymous information such as pages viewed, referring links, approximate location (derived from IP, not stored as a precise address), device and browser type, and how you interact with the page. This is used only to understand and improve the site. See Cookies and similar technologies below. If you decline, these providers are not loaded.
Support communications. If you contact us, we keep the information you choose to share so we can help you.
Device permissions
The App may ask for these permissions, each for a specific purpose:
- Notifications — to remind you about fees due, follow-ups and returns.
- Biometrics / device lock — for the optional app lock; this never leaves your device.
- Storage — to create backup files and export reports (PDF, CSV, Excel).
- Internet — for Google Sign-In, Drive backup and analytics.
How we use information
- To provide, maintain and secure the App and your account.
- To enable Google Drive backup and restore that you initiate.
- To understand usage and improve features, reliability and performance.
- To respond to your support requests.
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms.
How information is shared
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only as described here:
- Google — for sign-in and authentication, and for the Drive backups you create. Your use of Google services is also governed by Google’s Privacy Policy.
- Analytics providers — PostHog (App and website) and, on the website only and after you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics (Google LLC) and Microsoft Clarity (Microsoft Corporation). They process the pseudonymous usage data described above on our behalf, under their own privacy terms.
- Legal and safety — where required by law, or to protect our rights, users or the public.
- Business transfers — if our business is reorganised, sold or merged, consistent with this Policy.
Cookies and similar technologies
The App does not use advertising or tracking cookies. This website uses a small number of cookies and similar technologies:
- Strictly necessary — required for the site to work and to remember your cookie choice. These are always on and do not require consent.
- Analytics — set by our analytics providers (PostHog, Google Analytics and/or Microsoft Clarity) to measure and improve the site. These are loaded only after you accept them in the cookie banner.
When you first visit, we show a banner where you can Accept or Decline analytics cookies. If you decline, no analytics provider is loaded. Your choice is stored on your device, and you can change it at any time by clearing the site’s data in your browser or using the cookie settings link where available. You can also use your browser settings to block or delete cookies.
Google API Services — Limited Use
Batch Tutor requests only the drive.appdata scope, which restricts access to a hidden, application-specific folder in your Google Drive. We cannot read, list or access any of your other Google Drive files.
Batch Tutor’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Data storage and international transfers
Your institute data is stored on your device and, if you back up, in your own Google Drive account. Account and analytics data may be processed by our providers (Google, PostHog, and — for the website — Microsoft) on servers located outside your country, including in the United States. Where we transfer data internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards offered by these providers.
Data retention
We keep account and analytics data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the App. When you delete your account, we delete your account record, your Drive backups created by the App, and the data on your device, as described on our account deletion page. We may retain limited records where required for legal, tax or security reasons.
Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live (for example, under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, the EU/UK GDPR, or similar laws), you may have rights to access, correct, delete or export your personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent you have given. You can:
- View and edit most of your data directly in the App.
- Delete your account and associated data from within the App, or by following our account deletion instructions.
- Withdraw analytics consent on the website at any time — decline in the cookie banner, or clear the site’s stored data — which stops analytics providers from loading.
- Contact us at [email protected] to exercise any of these rights. If you are in India and are not satisfied with our response, you may escalate to our Grievance Officer (below) and, ultimately, to the Data Protection Board of India.
Data you enter about others
Batch Tutor is a tool for educators and institutes to manage their own records. When you enter information about students, guardians or staff, you are responsible for that data and for having a lawful basis to collect and use it. In data-protection terms, you act as the controller of that information and we act as a processor providing the App.
Children’s privacy
Batch Tutor is intended for use by tutors, institutes and other adults, not by children. We do not knowingly collect personal data directly from children. Any information about students is entered and controlled by the institute that uses the App.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information, including keeping your institute data on your device and limiting our access to it. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure; we encourage you to protect your device and enable the in-app lock.
Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above, and where appropriate notify you in the App or on this website.
Grievance Officer
In line with India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the Information Technology Act and rules, you can reach our Grievance Officer for any complaint about how we handle your personal data:
